The Co-op is legally bound to run according to rules outlined in the Companies Act, the Co-operatives Act, the Securities Act, and other related legislation. The Co-op has its own additional rules, set out in the Co-op's constitution, and is legally bound to follow these rules too.

The constitution can only be changed with the agreement of Shareholders - if a change is proposed all of the shareholders will be notified of a meeting at which they can vote on the change to the constitution. At least 75% of the shareholders who vote need to support the change for the constitution to be amended.
