We are a low profit, community owned shop, committed to providing organic wholefoods, supporting local suppliers and makers, and reducing our ecological footprint
Previously LyttelPiko, the Harbour Co-op was established after the devastating 2010 earthquakes. The Harbour Co-op was formed by the collective effort of local residents who wanted a dedicated wholefoods shop in their neighbourhood.
We are a community-owned co-operative: owned by 215 households, employees, and 3 institutional purchaser organisations, all working together to support local, organic, fair trade, and wholefoods producers. We are passionate about organic food, minimising waste and supporting a sustainable future for our communities.
Many of our goods are sold in bulk, not only to reduce cost, but also to encourage recycling of containers and to reduce waste.
Our low profit policy ensures the mark-up on organic food is kept to a minimum.
We are committed to: local produce and products, certified organic produce and products, and of course fairtrade and ethically sourced products
Anyone can shop at the Harbour Co-op, although to take advantage of the owner benefits a share needs to be purchased to become an owner. To join the community you can become a member or volunteer your time or expertise. For volunteering please send us an email - shop@harbourcoop.co.nz
Harbour Co-op is a NZ registered company, we are owned by NZ based households, employees and institutions.
